Chicago Sky light up Portland Fire on the road
by: Kayla D.
Chicago Sky’s 21st season opened last weekend in Portland, Oregon versus the Portland Fire, a newly revived expansion team. The Sky flew over to put out their fire, scoring nearly 100 points (like many other teams) this opening weekend: 98-83. Looking at the birth chart of this game, I believe it was meant to be Sky’s first win of the 2026 season.
I start game chart analysis by looking at the Sabian Symbol of the rising sign. The Sabian Symbols were first developed in 1925, so the words are a little outdated at times but they are phrases that align to the degrees of the zodiac. The game had a Libra rising at 23° which is “CHANTICLEER’S VOICE HERALDS THE RISING SUN WITH ENTHUSIASTIC TONES” Of course I had to look up what a chanticleer is and it’s a rooster. So in modern language the rooster’s voice is letting you know enthusiastically that the sun is rising. A brand new start is on its way.
How cute for a rising sign symbolization! My mind made sense of the rooster part via the Sky’s Gamecock center Kamilla Cardoso, who finished with 22 points and 14 rebounds.
It is a new dawn😉
It is a new day.
Directly on the opposite side of the Libra rising was Mars in Aries. This was a competitive game and I believe this aspect in the chart is why. Mars represents competitiveness, aggression, challenges, and action. For that reason, it’s the main planet I look at when analyzing the chart of an athlete, a game, and teams. The first quarter was a fun back and forth with a lot of ties, which I expected with a Libra rising game, but Chicago came out on top 19-18.
The first quarter was brought to you by Libra, so the second quarter was brought to you by 20° Scorpio: intense, dramatic, defensive. Fire only scored one more point than they did in the first quarter, 19. The Scorpio rookie Gabriela Jaquez, who started her first career game, was up to 5 points and 4 defensive rebounds. Sky on top at half time with a score of 50-37.
The third quarter was brought to you by 22° Sagittarius: grandiose, abundant, ambitious. The Fire had not won a quarter and suddenly they came alive in the third. They out scored Sky, 30-18. The third house of the game chart is ruled by Sagittarius, a fire sign. Coincidence? I think not. Megan Gustafson, Sagittarius center on Portland Fire had 6 points contributing to their comeback. Sky still on top 68-67.
The fourth quarter was brought to you by 28 ° Capricorn: perseverance, hard work, discipline. The Aquarius Moon was also in the fourth house of the game chart, bringing unique, creative, chaotic energy. I’m still learning, but I’ve found that the moon is significant in a game chart. The Chicago Sky as an organization has an Aquarius moon. The Moon was at 21° and Skylar Diggins of Chicago Sky had 21 points. Also every away team that played earlier won that day (Dallas Wings, Phoenix Mercury, Atlanta Dream) and Jupiter was at home essentially in 9th house and in Cancer so I just had a feeling. Ring nights were ruined. Debuts were dimmed down.
The Moon and Pluto weren’t super close together but still the impact could be felt. This game felt healing to me as a Sky fan. I’m used to feeling like this but I’m embracing transformation with this brand new team (again).
