I relish making the first pancake while fully knowing I’m going to mess something up. Which is exactly what I want to happen, believe it or not. You’ll throw out the first pancake, as the saying goes, but you are going to learn a lot while kicking your progress into overdrive. I love getting the ingredients together and burning the fuck out of that pancake as soon as possible because the number of lessons I learn, the gaps I spot, even the things that went well are just lit up.

While pouring over all things astrology the past several years, I came across an exciting subset of the topic: sports astrology. Gracey from @NorthAstrology was explaining her analysis for a Kansas City Chiefs game and I was instantly intrigued. I had no concept about sports astrology or that it was even an option but then I watched her break it down and absolutely nail prediction after prediction. That was all it took; I was obsessed after one video. I started gathering my ingredients and recipes: books, notes from watching the lives, any resource I could find on sports astrology, and got to mixing.

Believe me, I was trash when I first attempted my own game prediction. But I kept practicing and sonofabitch if I didn’t start landing calls. Two of my favorite hobbies are sports and astrology so it wasn’t exactly difficult to keep watching games. After some practice (learning probably more than any Seahawk’s fan would ever want to know about the Chiefs) and many, many hours of studying later, I felt like I at least knew enough about the techniques to show it to other astrology enthusiasts. What better place to talk about it than an astrology meetup at the local library? Turns out that was exactly the perfect place because the host, @yesandastrology, was looking for suggestions on various astrology topics to cover and sports astrology hadn’t yet been presented. Having a safe space to explore astrology with others in the community has been an incalculable experience.

I offered to make a presentation with a simple breakdown on how sports and astrology can overlap while showing that anyone can make their own predictions at home. Hey, why not throw a bingo card into the mix just for fun? So that’s what I did. Grabbed all my cooking supplies, mixed everything together and burnt the shit out of my Super Bowl/Sports Astrology presentation. It was bitchin’! Instead of rewriting another slide for the tenth time or wondering about this, that, and the other, I just put together the best presentation I could with the information I had so far.

Those mistakes I said I wanted to see were pretty damn obvious. The numbers I included on the bingo card were from a template I made before the teams were determined. Guess who forgot to double check and edit the numbers once the teams were set? But I also saw which things worked and the pieces I got right. If you’re impatient or are looking for fresh ideas, throwing that first pancake down is an excellent way to fill gaps and spotlight strengths. You seem to learn the exact lessons you need but twice as fast verses not making a move at all. Saturn might be in Aries right now but that just means let’s move with purpose, people! Or just move…Aries placements are probably in a hurry to get somewhere first.

Go Hawks!

Here are a few of my Super Bowl Bingo first pancake lessons:

  • Foot/Ankle injury: Mars in Aquarius. Mars can indicate injury and Aquarius rules the ankles

  • Ref pushed/injury: Mars is making an aspect to the Moon in the 5th house which can show the referees

  • Penalty #29 ended up fitting with Saturn at 29 degrees

  • Patriots QB sacked was a bit of a freebie but I’m counting it and you can’t stop me

  • Streaker at a football game, duh, but it’s been a while since one made it as far as this one did despite tight security

  • Surprising halftime guest: Uranus is in the 11th. Uranus can indicate shocks or surprises. The 11th house can show community, groups, friends, and is the house of good spirit. Uranus was also in the feminine sign of Taurus which made me think it could be a woman

  • I used the ruler of Taurus (Venus in Aquarius in this chart) to predict a futuristic theme at halftime and while incorrect, it was interesting to see others consider it

  • No hand injury but I saw the potential with Mercury ruling the hands while being in its fall in Pisces, perhaps that explains why Seahawks players were throwing hands

  • Seahawks player throws a punch

  • “Bingo” is not quite accurate as there weren’t multiple cards made, I should’ve jumbled up the boxes, etc.

  • Still works as an extra way to stay engaged, had to focus on catching small details, provides a way for non-sports fans to be included in the social aspects, and could even be used as a drinking or betting game with friends

  • Provide practice templates, double check team charts/start times, and make sure you’re in the correct room before you cover a conference table with books and props…not that any of that happened to me
